  1. EVERY MARINE A RIFLEMEN First and foremost, every Marine is a riflemen. Regardless of military occupational speciality, you’re duties of being an effective fighter from hand to hand combat and distance shooting is vital to the Marine Corps’ mission and vision. It’s essential that every recruit is instilled with the basic understandings of; trigger control, natural respiratory pause, natural point of aim, and bullet drop. These key aspects can boost Marines and Recruits into becoming effective fighting machines. "Every Marine a rifleman," regardless of Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), has been one of the hallmarks of the Marine Corps throughout its history. From the Marine marksman shooting from the high rigging on ships during the sea battles of the American Revolution, to the battle of Belleau Wood, France in June of 1918 during World War I where Marines hit German targets from more than 500 yards away, to Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Hathcock, a Marine sniper in Vietnam with a service record of 93 confirmed kills, we have set ourselves apart by our shooting prowess. It’s important to be well informed of the riflemen creed as well; This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will ... My rifle and I know that what counts in war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit ... My rifle is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will ... Before God, I swear this creed. My rifle and I are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life. So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy, but peace! HONOR, COURAGE, COMMITMENT It’s true to say, a Marine never lies, cheats, or steals. Typing into our core values, keeping our honor to country and Corps. Keeping courage in the face of adversity. Keeping commitment through mission and execution. As a Marine, you never quit or surrender. It’s the hallmarks of Marines past, present, and future. It’s also how Marines earned the name “Devil Dogs”. In a bloody battle in WW1, the US Marines charged German positions; outnumbered and outgunned, Marines effectively took the German strongholds and won the battle. As a Marine, we fight until the last breath is out of your lungs. It’s our duty to defend our allies and country, at a moment's notice. Looking to be part of something greater than yourself?
